Axtell Post Office

This log structure recently replaced the original one-room, wood-framed structure. It is still one of the smallest posts offices in Utah. The older wood-frame wood sided, gabled, vernacular structure post office was built about 1910. It replaced the first post office (est. 1891). Before any post office was established in Axtell, residents of what was then called Willow Creek traveled to Gunnison to pick up their mail. Settlers carried the mail in a variety of ways, by horseback, cart and stage until the first post office was established in 1891.
