Sanpete County, in cooperation with the Utah Association of Counties, is undertaking an initiative to preserve eye-witness accounts from individuals who regularly used rural county roads prior to 1976. This evidence will help determine which roads on BLM Lands belong to the county- for the purpose of keeping those roads open for public use.
Here are 9 road maps showing BLM roads in Sanpete County:
1. Map 1- North of Ft. Green- Water Hollow Area
2. Map 2- East of Ft. Green- Big Hollow Area
3. Map 3- North West of Ephraim- XL (Axhandle) & Dry Canyons
4. Map 4- West of Ephraim and Manti- Main Canyon Area
5. Map 5- West of Sterling/ North of Gunnison- Antelope Valley
6. Map 6- East of Centerfield/ West of Mayfield- White Hills
7. Map 7- North of Fayette- Yuba Reservoir, Northern Japs Valley
8. Map 8- West of Fayette- Central Japs Valley Area
9. Map 9- West of Centerfield- Southern Japs Valley Area
Please look at the above maps. If you used any of these roads prior to 1976 or know of others who did, please help us by filling out the RURAL ROAD WITNESS FORM .pdf and return it to:
Sanpete County
PO Box 148 Manti, UT 84642

Fax: 435- 835-6876
With your help we can document the roads on BLM LANDS and keep them open for the uses they have traditionally supported, as well as others yet to be determined.
NOTE: When filling out the form, list all the road numbers (SPVM numbers in red) from the maps that you traveled prior to 1976. This effort is for roads on BLM land only- we are not focusing on National Forest or Private land. This information will be critical to maintaining our ability as a county to control our road usage. Please make copies of this form and give to family and friends who can also participate. The Road Witness Forms need to be returned by Nov. 30th at the latest.
Thank you for your help! This information will be critical to maintaining our ability as a county to control our road usage.
