Blackhawk War Monument

Description:

Just south of the Carnegie Public Library is a marker that tells the story of one of the Indian massacres that were so common during the Walker and Blackhawk wars. Seven settlers died on that day in October 1865. A sturdy fort enclosed the entire chapel-library area.
