The Mormon Miracle Pageant

Tonight the Mormon Miracle Pageant begins it’s 42nd season. The Pageant is a theatrical performance that portrays a young boys’ search for which Christian church to join, the origins of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the coming forth of The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ, and the Pioneer settlement of Utah. This year will also mark the 10th year that I have participated in the pageant as a cast member. The first year I was in the pageant, as a 12 year old, I was a “Standard Bearer”. These guys are soldiers who hold large banners during a battle scene from the Book of Mormon.

In subsequent years I have played many parts. Two years I played the role of Oliver Cowdery, the scribe for Joseph Smith during the translation of the Book of Mormon, and witness to the Resoration of Priesthood keys by Angelic Ministration. I also played the part of John Taylor, a man who was incarcerated with Joseph Smith at the time of his assassination by mob violence. John Taylor was shot 4 times but miraculously recovered. This year my family and I are in the “Christ in America” scene. This scene highlights the visitation of Jesus Christ to a branch of the House of Israel on the American Continent shortly after his resurrection.
