10 K @ 10000 feet
I ran this race last year and it was a lot of fun. Well organized and lots of people were there. Started on time and great course. Was hard to get to at 8:00 am. Was wondering if they could not change it to 10K @ 10,000 feet at 10:00 am. It was cool that early in the morning. Would be better when it warmed up a bit. Fun race.

Rock climbing is a BLAST!
Maple Canyon is the best place on earth to rock climb! They have camping sites up the canyon so you can climb all day and sleep and climb again! I wonder if people from Sanpete realize what a treasure this place is. Rock climbing in Sanpete is a Blast!
Paul Hart violins
I am very interested in artists and artisans with Utah roots. I was pleasantly surprised to find that an
outstanding violin maker has a school and shop in Mt. Pleasant where he trains students in the art of violin making while concurrently making violins. Do you have any information on other artists and artisans who work relatively close to Utah County? I will be coming down for Spring City’s Heritage Days and would be very interested in visting shops and studios. I am a collector of sorts. If you can offer any suggestions, please do so in the next day or so. I will be in the area during Memorial Day Weekend?
By the way, are there any motels or bed and breakfast Inns who have special offers during the upcoming weekend?
9-Mile Fishing
My son and grandson went fishing at 9-Mile last week but happened to pick a rather cold afternoon. They spent about 2 1/2 hours there without a bite. Finally, they decided to head for home and try again another day. Usually the fishing there is great. They have never before come home empty handed. We always look forward to their fishing days because we love to eat the fish!! I think we had pizza that night though. Oh well, there are many days ahead for the fishermen in our family to drag their poles and bait to the many fishing holes in Sanpete that they love to visit. Better days ahead to eat those tasty morsels!!
BIG Bull Elk Hunt
Well I finally did it, I drew out for the big bull elk hunt on the Manti-LaSal National Forest. I received my official tag this past week in the mail. I have been putting in for this hunt for more years than I can keep track of, approximately 10.
My dad called me up this past Winter to see if I wanted to enter the draw and I almost told him no. After so many years of not drawing I had almost lost interest. The hunt is this September so I will have plenty of time to brush up on my elk bugling skills.
I have been teasing my wife that a head mount would look really good above the stairs or in the front room. She laughs and smiles but I think in her mind she is saying “hang it in the storage room!” If any of you know where all the big boys hang out, please leave a comment. I don’t want to get skunked on such a great opportunity. Photo: King’s Outdoor World
